"He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Mic 6:8
UN TELLS ISRAEL TO SURRENDER: UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Tuesday reiterated that the world body expects Israel to immediately surrender to internationally-backed Arab demands that it relinquish all claims to the Jews’ biblical heartland of Judea and Samaria and half of their ancient capital of Jerusalem. The Jewish presence in the so-called “West Bank,” which includes the eastern half of Jerusalem, is “morally and politically unsustainable, and must end,” Ban insisted during a press conference in Uruguay. Meanwhile, the Palestinians are moving forward plans to unilaterally declare an independent state with the support of the UN, outside the framework of a land-for-peace deal with Israel. Many within Israel are urging PM Netanyahu to stop playing the diplomatic game by the Arab world’s rules, and to instead begin insisting the UN approach the peace process from the viewpoint that the West Bank and Jerusalem are disputed territories, where Jews have just as much, if not more, claim than local Palestinian Arabs. An unnamed Israeli official said if the Palestinians seek recognition of their sovereignty in the UN, Israel may annex the parts of the West Bank most populated by Jews - the much-maligned “settlement blocs.” (Israel Today/Ryan Jones) “The Lord Almighty will reign on Mt. Zion and in Jerusalem, and before its elders with great glory.” Is 24:23
FACEBOOK REMOVES PAGE CALLING FOR THIRD PALESTINIAN INTIFADA: The Facebook page calling for a third Palestinian intifada was taken down on Tuesday, after widespread calls for it to be removed. On the original page, Palestinians are urged to take to the streets after Friday prayers on May 15 and begin an uprising in the vein of the first two popular uprisings. "Judgment Day will be brought upon us only once the Muslims have killed all of the Jews," reads the call. The page had more than 340,000 fans. Although the page was removed, a new page already exists in its place with the same name of "Third Palestinian Intifada." The Anti Defamation League had filed an official complaint against Facebook for allowing the page to remain up. In addition, Minister Yuli Edelstein wrote a letter to Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, warning that the page which includes calls to kill Jews and to liberate Jerusalem through violence violates Facebook content regulations. (Ha’aretz) Pray this page will permanently be removed from Facebook - those like it - and every kind of incitement against Jews and the nation of Israel.
KNESSET PASSES LAW TO STRIP TERRORISTS OF ISRAELI CITIZENSHIP: The Knesset this week gave its final seal of approval to a law that would enable Israel's Supreme Court to revoke the citizenship of anyone convicted of espionage, treason or aiding the enemy during war. "Anyone who betrays the state and carries out acts of terror must know – citizenship and loyalty go together," said Yisrael Beiteinu MK David Rotem, who initiated the bill, which passed in its second and third reading. "There is no citizenship without loyalty." The citizenship loyalty law also allows the court to revoke the status of any permanent resident found guilty of assisting a terrorist organization. Yisrael Beiteinu chairman, Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, lauded the Knesset's decision as a step toward "contending with the phenomenon of exploiting democracy in order to subvert it." (Ha’aretz) “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” Gen 12:3
IDF ARRESTS 60 ARABS FOR DNA TESTS IN FOGEL MASSACRE PROBE: Israel soldiers and security forces Monday night arrested 60 more Arabs, including a deputy mayor, for DNA testing in the search for the murderers who massacred the Fogel family at Itamar two weeks ago. The search has focused around the village of Awarta, which is located within view of Itamar. The latest arrests bring the number of Arabs questioned to approximately 100 since the brutal stabbings of Rabbi Udi and Ruth Fogel and three of their six young children, including a three-month-old baby. Israel has imposed a gag order on the investigation, but it is known that approximately 40 Arabs still are in custody. (INN) Pray the perpetrators of this terrible massacre will be brought to justice.
WHO CAN I TRUST WITH MY DONATIONS? Many people ask, "Where can I send my financial contributions and be sure they reach the people who need them most?" As an employee of Vision for Israel & The Joseph Storehouse, I have witnessed since 2006, food, clothing and household goods go out to the poor, often twice a week. Thousands of dollars of hospital equipment have been freely given to old age and care institutions that simply can't afford new beds or other medical necessities. School packs have been prepared annually for thousands of needy children. Additionally, when there have been catastrophes abroad, Vision for Israel & The Joseph Storehouse are among the first to send necessary supplies to alleviate the distress. Your donations are needed and welcomed at www.visionforisrael.com Make your online donations today. SENIOR IDF COMMANDER: THERE IS ANARCHY IN GAZA: Southern Command Maj. Gen. Tal Russo said that Gaza is in anarchy, warning that neither Hamas nor any other group is in control of the area. Russo made the comments during a visit to the western Negev home which was badly damaged from a Qassam strike overnight, following recent cross-border escalation between Israel and Gaza. "There is anarchy in Gaza, inside Hamas and inside the other [terrorist] organizations. No group exerts control there." Asked if the IDF would launch a large 'Operation Cast Lead 2' type of military operation in Gaza as a response, Russo said it is not dependent upon Israel but upon the other side. "We are trying to afford citizens of the south normal lives, and these aren't exactly normal lives," he said. "We will bring these citizens peace and quiet. That is our aim." Russo added. (Ha’aretz) “Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand.” Matt 12:25
HOUSING CRISIS FOR ELDERLY TO BE EASED: The Prime Minister’s Bureau announced a plan days ago to build and subsidize housing for the elderly. The plan calls for the construction of 5,000 housing units on land designated for public use. The units will be rented at a very low rate to needy elderly who are eligible for rent subsidies and are awaiting public housing. The plan was approved at a Cabinet meeting early this week, in light of the current housing plight among the elderly. (Ynet) “Do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices G-d is well pleased.”
ISRAEL MOVES TO PAVE PARKING LOTS AND PUT UP SOME CITY PARKS: Tel Aviv and other cities in the Dan region will no longer be allowed to build parking lots under parks, green areas and sidewalks, as part of a move to improve the quality of life in cities, the local planning and building committee decided yesterday. Instead, parking lots will be built under public buildings, squares and streets, as is done in numerous cities worldwide. The need to protect parks stems among other things from a lack of green space around Tel Aviv. In Bat Yam and Ramat Gan the green space per person is less than half of the Housing Ministry's recommended quota. (Ha’aretz)
ISRAELI MEDICAL DELEGATION LANDS IN JAPAN TO AID RELIEF EFFORTS: An Israeli medical delegation landed in Tokyo late Sunday as Israel prepares to open a field hospital in Japan's quake-ravaged Miyagi prefecture. Miyagi is one of the areas worst hit by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami which destroyed parts of the country. The field hospital is to operate in Kurihara for a month, the Israeli military said on Monday. (Ha’aretz)
