Israel Update

JERUSALEM-ON-THE-LINE September 27, 2010

“In those days, when your numbers have increased greatly in the land," declares the Lord, "men will no longer say, 'The ark of the covenant of the Lord.' It will never enter their minds or be remembered; it will not be missed, nor will another one be made. At that time they will call Jerusalem the Throne of the Lord, and all nations will gather in Jerusalem to honor the name of the Lord.” Jer 3: 16,17

ISRAEL READY TO RESTART W. BANK CONSTRUCTION: Israeli settlers have moved construction equipment into a Jewish settlement deep inside the West Bank, officials said Saturday, preparing to break ground on a new housing project as the US raced to prevent peace talks from collapsing. A freeze on building will expire Sunday night. Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, who imposed the settlement slowdown 10 months ago as a peace gesture, has said he won't extend the restrictions, despite public calls from President Obama to do so. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said Saturday there will be no peace deal unless Israel stops settlement construction in areas the Palestinians claim for their future state. (IBN) It is crucial to review what the Palestinians claim for their future state as they continue in their pretend role as a peace partner for Israel: Some 300,000 Israelis live in the 121 officially-recognized settlements in the West Bank, a further 190,000 Israelis live in settlements in East Jerusalem. The three largest settlements, Modi'in Illit, Maale Adumim and Betar Illit, are cities with over 30,000 residents each. These decades-old Jewish communities include homes, schools, government buildings, shopping centers and thriving business. They are not a collection of tents and huts in the wilderness of little value to the Jewish state. The Obama administration and the Palestinian Authority continue to pressure Israel to forgo even natural growth construction to meet the need for additional schools, medical facilities, apartments, and shops within its own long established communities. The reason for this is to accommodate Palestinian hopes and demands that Israelis will eventually agree to walk away from these thriving towns and neighborhoods and turn them over to their enemies in return for a false peace. Meanwhile, nothing is demanded by the US government of the Palestinians on behalf of Israel other than a numinous future “good will.” Historically, all promises made to Israel by Islamic terrorist entities are broken within weeks, even days, after being penned. Pray for Israeli leaders to continually stand strong against foreign manipulation and for the Good News of G-d’s peace plan to penetrate the Middle East.

JUDEA AND SAMARIA PREPARE TO BUILD: Jews in Judea and Samaria are preparing for the end of the construction freeze imposed on them for the past 10 months this Sunday night. Local officials have announced they will open their offices at midnight to begin signing building permits the minute the halt ends. Deputy Head of the Binyamin Regional Council Moti Yogev said construction would resume as soon as possible. He criticized the building freeze as immoral. When the freeze ends, “we won't seek publicity, we'll just work on building….Jewish renewal in Israel is unstoppable,” he continued. “We are all witnesses to the return of the people of Israel to its land. Judea and Samaria will only grow stronger, and those who make trouble only create challenges to make us stronger over the course of the years.” (INN) “Your descendants will be like the dust of the earth, and you will spread out to the west and to the east, to the north and to the south.” Gen 28:14

YOUR DONATIONS ARE GREATLY APPRECIATED: Did you know that nearly 23.6% of the people in Israel and some 35.9% of its children live in poverty conditions? At the beginning of this school year alone, Vision for Israel and the Joseph Store House distributed 7,000 school packs to needy children - with more to go. This is only one of our many projects to help the impoverished in Israel. Please continue to enable us to assist terrorist victims and Holocaust survivors, entire households suffering from hardship, the elderly and others in need in Israel. Your donations are urgently needed and welcomed at Make your online donation today. For residents in the UK and outside North America visit our newly updated website at

OBAMA SHARPLY CRITICIZED OVER UN SPEECH: US President Obama was sharply criticized by several of Israel’s leaders, after calling on the Jewish State to continue to forbid Jews to build in Judea and Samaria, during his speech to the UN. MK Danny Danon (Likud) dismissed Obama's pressure, saying, “Obama is welcome to turn on CNN on Sunday and watch the tractors resume construction in the land of Israel.” He expressed concern over the president's statements, saying that whoever believes that peace depends on a construction freeze is out of touch with reality, and should not play a part in peace talks. IRAN NUCLEAR EXPERTS RACE TO STOP SPREAD OF STUXNET COMPUTER WORM: Experts at Iran's nuclear agency are trying to disable a complex computer virus that has attacked the country's industrial sites and appears to be aimed at shutting down its Bushehr nuclear plant, which was due to go online next month. Officials at Iran's nuclear agency have met to determine how to combat the computer worm, called Stuxnet, which can take over systems that control the inner workings of industrial plants. Western experts say the worm's sophistication - and the fact that some 60% of computers infected appeared to be in Iran - pointed to a government-backed attack. (Worthy News)

SECRET IS OUT: PRO-PA BILLIONAIRE GEORGE SOROS FUNDS J STREET: Billionaire George Soros, who once said Israeli and US policies fuel antisemitism, helps fund the J Street lobby that is sympathetic to the Hamas terrorist organization. Soros was a strong supporter of President Obama during his presidential campaign, and the president has included J Street officials frequently in White House consultations, trying to promote the political lobby as representing US Jews. NETANYAHU: FIDEL CASTRO HAS A DEEP UNDERSTANDING OF JEWISH HISTORY: Prime Minister Netanyahu expressed his appreciation on Saturday over remarks by Cuban leader Fidel Castro, who said that Israel “without a doubt” has a right to exist in a recent press interview. Netanyahu said comments attributed to Castro demonstrate his deep understanding of the history of the Jewish people and the State of Israel. Castro referenced the Holocaust saying, "Now, let's imagine that I was Netanyahu," Castro said, "that I was there and I sat down to reason through the issues facing Israel. I would remember that six million Jewish men and women, of all ages were exterminated in the concentration camps." In an earlier interview, Castro urged Iranian President Ahmadinejad to stop slandering the Jews. (Ha’aretz)
