Great Expectations

by Lonnie Lane

As we prepared to launch our new website on March 20th we also noted that the day was the 1st of Nissan on the Hebrew Calendar. It is the day God told Moses, "This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you." (Ex. 12:2)  So according to God, this is a day of new beginnings, of God's new year, even though the rabbis later made the new year on Rosh Hashana, the Feast of Trumpets.

The 1st of Nissan (called Aviv or "spring" previously) is notable because on this day in Jewish history, it is the day that the Tabernacle was completed, that Hezekiah consecrated the Temple, that King Cyrus gave the go-ahead to rebuild the Temple and that Ezra and his followers left for Jerusalem to restore the Temple, and finally, the plot to assassinate the king was uncovered by Mordecai on this day. Consider the significance of each of these events, if you will.

Consider also that Israel did not know 14 days before what we now know as Passover that they would be set free from 400 years of bondage and slavery 14 days later, on the 14th of Nissan. Even though God was dealing with Pharaoh through the plagues, while Moses may have been assured that God was going to see that Pharaoh would "let (His) people go," most of Israel still had no real idea what God was about to do.  Imagine the expectation they would have had if they had any idea of the magnitude of what God was about to accomplish on their behalf!

As this is a day of new beginnings according to the Bible, with all that is taking place on the prophetic horizon today, we here at Messianic Vision have a sense of great expectation of God doing things we've not even anticipated before, of new revelation of His Kingdom coming forth from His Word and in our lives, and of manifestations of His Glory coming upon the whole earth.

We only realized that we were launching our new website on this meaningful day in God's redemptive history the day before the launch when one of our staff members brought it to our attention. We believe the date of our new website is God's doing.  We have been averaging around 4,000 visits per day to the site from people all over the world coming for information on Jewish Roots, wanting to know about Messiah Yeshua from a Jewish perspective, and for greater clarity on such issues as the One New Man or house fellowships, and lots more. Thousands of people a day watch our TV shows or listen to our radio shows online.  If you are reading this, you are one of these people.  We're glad you stopped by and we welcome you.

As we release our new website to the world, we are grateful for whatever part He allows us to play in all the vast network of things He's weaving together at this time.  Our sense of expectation is great as we enter this Passover season once again.  Will you join us as we pray that God release the unprecedented things He has kept hidden until what we believe to be these end times, and invite Him to do all that is in His heart, for Israel, for His Body, and that the whole earth would be filled with His glory?  Amen!
