FORMER EGYPTIAN PRESIDENT MORSI UNDER CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION: Former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi is officially under criminal investigation, the public prosecutor announced Saturday. Prosecutors said they were looking into complaints of incitement to violence, spying and ruining the economy. The charges are similar to those leveled against eight other top figures in the Muslim Brotherhood organization that backed Morsi’s rise to power a year ago, including its leader, Mohamed Badie, who is an avowed foe of the Jewish state. Morsi was toppled from power by the Egyptian Army on July 3 after days of protests that followed petitions demanding his resignation, signed by 22 million citizens. The former Islamist president is currently being held incommunicado by the Egyptian army. The US has publicly called for Morsi to be freed and for the authorities to stop arresting leaders of his Muslim Brotherhood. The Brotherhood, a worldwide movement, has often been labeled the “father of all terrorist organizations.” It is responsible for the formation of the Gaza-based Hamas terrorist group, which has fired more than 4000 projectiles into Israel’s southern communities in less than a decade. (INN) Morsi’s Muslim Brotherhood has been working overtime in the past months to turn Egypt into an Islamist-run regime, to oppress Egypt’s Coptic Christians with murders, injuries, threats, destruction of property and the likes. Muslim Brotherhood leaders also repeatedly air their hatred of Israel and call for its annihilation. Why then, the defending and protection of this Islamist entity on the part of the Obama administration?

REPORT: ISRAELI SUBMARINE STRIKE HITS SYRIAN ARMS DEPOT: Israeli Dolphin-class submarines reportedly carried out a July 5 attack on an arms depot in the Syrian port city of Latakia, according to the British Sunday Times, which contradicted a previous CNN report that the attack was the work of the Israel Air Force. The alleged Israeli naval strike was said to have targeted a contingent of 50 Russian-made anti-ship missiles that had arrived for Syrian President Assad's regime. On Friday, three anonymous US officials told CNN that Israel had carried out a strike on the Syrian city. So far, the Israeli government has declined to comment on the Latakia attack. Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon said Tuesday the Jewish state does not interfere in the affairs of neighboring countries, but it does act when its red lines are crossed. Some interpreted these remarks as a hint that Israel may have been involved in the strike. In May, Yaalon said Israel "will know what to do" if Russia delivers highly advanced missiles to Syria. Such military operations are widely viewed as measures to prevent the Syrian government from transferring weapons to the Hizbullah terrorist group in neighboring Lebanon. (J.Post/INN) On May 19 the US apologized to Israel for disclosing that Israel was behind the strikes on Damascus at the beginning of May. Israel was made to face much stronger threats from Bashar Assad as a result of that disclosure.

EILAND: US LEAKS ON ATTACKS IN SYRIA PROBLEMATIC: "Israel can attack many sites in Syria, but it chooses quality targets, such as the SA-17 and Yakhont missiles, which can fall into the hands of extremist elements," former National Security Council chief Giora Eiland explained on Sunday. The New York Times and CNN quoted US sources as saying Israel was behind the July 5 attack on an arms depot in the Syrian city of Latakia. Eiland said the strikes in Syria "are clean in that they do not leave fingerprints and are conducted in a way that does not allow the Syrians to photograph the plane or ship which attacked, and in a way that does not push Assad into a corner. American leaks regarding alleged Israeli operations in Syria are problematic and concerning,” he said. The former National Security Council head estimates Assad may decide to retaliate "in a limited manner" at any moment. "In Syria there are hundreds of rockets and missiles that are pointed at Israel and are controlled by the regime. "Assad can order his forces to launch two surface-to-surface missiles with conventional warheads at northern Israel, and even if such an attack causes zero damage, it will pose a problem because Israel will have to ask itself how it wants to respond." (Ynet) Pray US officials will stop leaking information about Israel’s secret military operations, thereby endangering the Jewish state. Pray the Syrian crisis will not spill over into Israel.

NETANYAHU: ISRAEL MAY ATTACK IRAN BEFORE THE US: Iran is moving closer to building a nuclear weapon and Israel may have to act before the US does, Israel's PM Netanyahu warned Sunday. "They're getting closer and closer to the bomb. And they have to be told in no uncertain terms that that will not be allowed to happen." Netanyahu explained that Israel has a narrower timetable than Washington. "Our clocks are ticking at a different pace. We're closer than the United States. We're more vulnerable. And therefore, we'll have to address this question of how to stop Iran, perhaps before the United States does," he said. Netanyahu said Tehran has been building "faster centrifuges that would enable them to jump the line at a much quicker rate - that is, within a few weeks." He further warned Iran's nuclear policies were unlikely to change under its next president, former nuclear negotiator Hassan Rouhani, who will assume power on August 3. Netanyahu urged the US to make clear to Rouhani that it will not allow Iran to build a nuclear weapon, and that military force is truly an option. "That's the only thing that will get their attention," he added. (INN)

SAUDI ARABIA WARNS PILGRIMS TO WEAR MASKS TO STOP SPREAD OF VIRUS: Saudi Arabia is asking pilgrims to cover their mouths with a mask while in crowded places - or risk spreading a deadly disease. In four months, the holy city of Mecca opens its doors to millions of Muslim pilgrims for the annual Hajj, with multitudes congregating at the same places at the same time. It's a perfect scenario for catching and spreading the relatively new Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), which has befallen Saudi Arabia almost exclusively. The ailment, wreaks havoc on the respiratory systems of those who contract it. Of 81 infected worldwide, 45 have died. Of the total cases, 66 were in Saudi Arabia, where 38 people succumbed to it. HEVRON: MUSLIM WORSHIPERS DESECRATE JEWISH HOLY SITE: Jewish worshippers who arrived at the Cave of Patriarchs in Hevron after Muslim prayers on Friday were horrified to find the site had been vandalized. The Cave is usually split between Jewish and Muslim worshippers, but this past Friday it was open exclusively to Muslim worshippers in honor of Ramadan. But when the Jewish section of the site was reopened, worshippers found widespread desecration. Two mezuzot - cases containing Jewish holy scriptures affixed to the doorpost - had been torn off and stolen, and a third was damaged. Muslim worshippers had also thrown mud and garbage around the site, and uprooted parts of the garden outside. Noam Arnon a spokesperson for Hevron's Jewish community said, "I can't say that we're surprised, because this kind of thing happens after every Muslim festival. But we are still hoping that justice will be done." The Cave of the Patriarchs is considered Judaism's second holiest site, after the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. It is the burial place of the Jewish patriarchs - Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - as well as three of the four matriarchs - Sarah, Rebekah and Leah. (INN)
