The Lord delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love. Ps 147: 11

TWIN BLASTS HIT DAMASCUS SECURITY COMPOUNDS; AT LEAST 27 KILLED: At least 27 people were killed and 97 were wounded in two explosions which hit Damascus early Saturday. Security force personnel and civilians were killed in the blasts, state television reported, blaming what it said were terrorists behind the year-long uprising against Syrian President Bashar Assad. Damascus residents said clouds of black smoke could be seen rising from the areas where the blasts struck. No one claimed responsibility for the twin attacks. The explosions came two days after the first anniversary of the year-long uprising, in which tens of thousands of people have been killed and some 230,000 forced to flee their homes as the violence spreads. The UN-Arab League envoy for Syria, Kofi Annan, warned on Friday that the crisis could spill over into other neighboring countries and urged international powers to lay aside their differences and back his peace initiative. While the West and much of the Arab world have lined up to demand that Assad step down, his allies Russia, China and Iran have defended him and cautioned against outside interference. SYRIA TRAINING HEZBOLLAH TO USE ANTIAIRCRAFT GUNS: IDF sources warn that Syria has been arming and training Hezbollah terrorists in the use of advanced antiaircraft weapons in recent months. A senior officer in the Northern Command says hundreds of fighters were taught to use surface-to-air missiles in Syria and Iran. IDF officers are worried by two developments involving Syria and Hezbollah that could change the balance of power in the region. The first is the transfer of huge quantities of surface-to-air missiles; the second, the transfer of chemical and biological weapons. The IDF points to a regular shift of arms from Syria to Hezbollah that began even before the uprising against Assad's government. Since the dictator lost complete control, the weapon transfers have increased, and include drones and shore-to-ship missiles. (Ha’aretz)

IRAN BEHIND GLOBAL MARCH TO JERUSALEM: Following the announcement that Arabs are planning a Global March to Jerusalem, the Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center (ITIC) has presented information that Iran is behind the initiative and openly supports it.The Global March to Jerusalem is a scheme that aims at getting over one million Arabs and their supporters to attempt to infiltrate Israel’s borders on March 30. A spokesman for the march said the initiative “demands freedom for Palestine and its capital Jerusalem.” ITIC recently revealed exact plans for the rally as they were laid out at a conference in Jordan. Now, ITIC is presenting evidence which reveals Iran openly and with its own propaganda supports the March 30 events and is involved in organizational preparations for the marches. To that end, ITIC said in a recent report, Iran employs proxies, including organizations and individuals. (INN)

ITALIAN MAN ARRESTED FOR PLANNING ATTACK ON MILAN SYNAGOGUE: Italian police on Thursday arrested a 20-year old man of Moroccan descent on suspicion of planning a series of terror attacks, including one in a synagogue in Milan. A search of the suspect's computer found maps of the area around the main synagogue in Milan. The suspect was arrested after police apprehended a woman from Britain who had been in contact with him. Among other things, the police exposed a correspondence between the two on Facebook about assembling explosives. The suspect has reportedly lived in Brescia, east of Milan, since the age of six but was raised on the principles of the Islamic concept of Jihad. He kept in touch with global Jihad activists via the Internet. The arrest came one day after Azerbaijan said it arrested 22 citizens suspected of plotting on behalf of Iran to attack the American and Israel embassies in Baku. Officials said that the men were working with the Iranian Revolutionary Guards. (Arutz-7)

INDIA LINKS DELHI TERROR ATTACK ON ISRAELI EMBASSY TO BOTCHED THAI BOMBING: Indian police said Friday that a bomb attack that wounded an Israeli diplomat's wife in New Delhi last month is connected to a suspected plot to attack Israeli targets in Bangkok that was blamed on a group of Iranian men. Israel has accused Iran of orchestrating those plots as well as a failed bombing in the former Soviet republic of Georgia that also targeted an Israeli diplomat. Indian authorities had declined to implicate Iran in the February13 blast that wounded the diplomat's wife and three others with a bomb attached to her car by a magnet. However, the investigation is increasingly centering on Iranians and those with ties to Iran. Days ago, police arrested an Indian freelance journalist who reportedly worked for Iranian news organizations to investigate possible links to the bombing. Last week, they issued arrest warrants for three Iranian men who had left the country. (Ha’aretz)

TERRORIST STABS FEMALE SOLDIER IN LIGHT RAIL CAR: A Palestinian stabbed a 19-year-old female soldier on the light rail in Jerusalem Thursday, seriously wounding the woman before fleeing. A suspect, who admitted carrying out the attack, was caught trying to return to Palestinian-controlled territory. He admitted to carrying out the attack when questioned by security forces. Investigators are trying to determine whether the man acted alone or was part of an organized terrorist group. Paramedics treated the victim before evacuating her to the capital’s Shaare Zedek Medical Center in serious condition. (J. Post) Palestinian terrorist enclaves have repeatedly threatened to resume attacks against innocent Israeli residents. This, they say, is due to the fact that leaders of the Jewish state refuse to give into to their outrageous demands as stipulated for the resumption and outcome of so called peace negotiations. Continue to pray for the safety of all Israel’s population from both random and organized terrorist attacks.

ISRAEL: FIRE UN OFFICIAL OVER FALSE GAZA PHOTO: Israel’s Ambassador to the UN Ron Prosor has called for the dismissal of a UN official who last week tweeted a picture of a Palestinian child covered in blood and falsely claimed she was killed by an IDF strike. Kuhlood Badawi, a media coordinator for the UN’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, posted a link to the picture of a young girl covered in blood being carried by her father, along with the tweet: “Palestine is bleeding. Another child killed by Israel; another father carrying his child to a grave in Gaza.” The picture, it emerged, was published in 2006 by Reuters and was of a Palestinian girl who died in an accident unrelated to Israel. Prosor, in his letter to Valerie Amos, the undersecretary-general for humanitarian affairs, expressed outrage at Badawi’s conduct, saying that even though her tweet was blatantly false, it became the top tweet the day it was posted for anything relating to Gaza. (J.Post) “They slandered me without ceasing.” Ps 35:15

IDF SAYS GAZA’S ISLAMIC JIHAD SEVERELY DAMAGED: Gazans fired a few rockets at Israel on Friday, but none on Saturday. IDF sources said that Islamic Jihad was severely beaten in the recent round of violence and that it would need time to rebuild its capabilities. The air force bombed more than 40 targets throughout the Gaza Strip over the past week, including nearly 20 rocket squads, and several weapons storage centers and underground long-range rocket launchers. After a week when many schools in the South were closed, all classes returned to normal on Sunday. (J.Post) Prayers of faithful intercessors have been answered causing a lull in this volatile situation in Israel’s southern region. Continue to pray that terrorist rocket attacks issuing forth from Gaza Strip terrorist groups will be utterly halted.

Whoops! Who Gave The Book To Whom: A White House conference took place this month between Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and US President Barack Obama. Reuters, an international news agency, reported that following the March 5 meeting Obama gave Netanyahu the megillah (scroll) of the Book of Esther, which Jews read during Purim. This is how the JOL reported the gift exchange. Other news sources, we later learned, had it the other way around saying in fact Netanyahu gave the book of Esther to the US President. We, at Vision for Israel, sure want to get it right, but are still not 100 per cent sure how this timely gift passed between the two leaders. If you too were puzzled, here are a couple of URL numbers, there are more, that might be of interest to you:
