“What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Watch!’” Mark 13:37

PA OFFICIALS SAY ISRAEL’S MIDEAST PEACE CALLS ARE USELESS WITHOUT SETTLEMENT FREEZE: Israel's acceptance of a Roadmap for Peace by the Quartet on the Middle East is meaningless unless PM Benjamin Netanyahu freezes all settlement construction and recognizes 1967 borders, Palestinian officials said on Sunday. Earlier Sunday, Netanyahu and his eight senior cabinet ministers decided to support the Quartet's plan for renewing Israeli-Palestinian negotiations within a month without preconditions. Netanyahu’s bureau said Israel welcomes the Quartet's call for direct negotiations between the parties without preconditions. The statement added that Israel has concerns about the Quartet's plan, which it will bring up during the negotiations. “Israel calls on the Palestinian Authority to do the same and to enter into direct negotiations without delay,” the statement said. However, Nabil Abu Rudeinah, chief aide to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, responded that Israel had to freeze settlement construction and recognize 1967 borders for talks to resume. Also commenting on Israel's announcement on Sunday, Palestinian official Saeb Erakat said that Netanyahu's statement was an “an exercise in deceiving the international community.” (Ha’aretz) In actuality, outrageous Palestinian demands are a ploy to deceive the nations.  They know their stipulations for peace with Israel are impossible for the Jewish nation to meet without destruction of the Jewish state. Continue to pray that Israel’s PM Netanyahu and his cabinet members will not give way to international pressure to enter into false peace agreements with its enemies. Israel’s Middle East foes have no intention of living peacefully with their non-Muslim neighbors - but only to destroy the Jewish state.

FATAH OFFICIAL MAKES PUBLIC STATEMENT REGARDING ELIMINATION OF ISRAEL: A senior member of the Fatah Central Committee led by Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, in a recent interview, referred to Israeli PM Binyamin Netanyahu and US President Barack Obama, as “dirtbags.”  He then explained how causing Israel to leave Judea and Samaria would spell its doom. Abbas Zaki told the interviewer that any final status agreement between Israel and the PA should be based upon the borders of June 4, 1967. He said everybody knows the greater goal cannot be accomplished in one go. Israel claims that Abbas and numerous other PA Arab officials have made it clear in many ways that the "greater" and ultimate goal has been and continues to be the elimination of the State of Israel altogether, but this was an outright statement to that effect. Zaki made his remarks during an interview on the Qatar-based Al-Jazeera satellite television channel, which reaches millions of Arabs worldwide. (INN)

IRAN SUPREME LEADER: PALESTINIAN UN STATEHOOD DOOMED TO FAIL: Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has verbally attacked a two state solution for Israel and the Palestinians, saying the Palestinian bid for statehood at the UN is doomed to fail. Khamenei spoke at the “5th International Conference in Support of the Palestinian Intifada” in Iran’s capital Tehran on Saturday. “The Palestinians should not limit themselves to seeking a country based on the pre-1967 borders,” Khamenei said, “because all land belongs to the Palestinians.” Khamenei added that the West is standing on a crossroad and it should either leave its age-old bullying and recognize the rights of the Palestinians or wait for harder blows in the near future. Khamenei also called Israel a "cancerous tumor."  PM Netanyahu said on Saturday that the vociferous anti-Israel comments made by Ayatollah Ali Khamenei earlier in the day “strengthen the steadfastness of my government on the security needs of Israel's citizens and our demand that Israel be recognized as a Jewish state” (Ha’aretz)

US BLOCKS $200 MILLION IN AID TO PALESTINIAN AUTHORITY: The US Congress has blocked nearly $200m in aid to the Palestinians, a UK press release revealed on Saturday. The aid, which was destined for projects related to food aid, health care, and state building efforts, was to have been transferred to the Palestinian Authority during the US fiscal year that has just ended. However, following what has been described as an “unpublicized block” imposed on funding to the Palestinians since August this year, in response to the Palestinian bid for statehood at the UN, the remainder of the aid allocated to the Palestinian Authority for the current financial year will not be transferred. US ELIMINATES AL-QAEDA’S AL-AWALAKI: US troops have killed senior al-Qaeda terrorist Anwar al-Awlaki in an airstrike in northern Yemen. American-born Awlaki was considered the “chief of external operations” for al-Qaeda in Yemen. He was also believed to have been involved in the mass shooting at an army base in Fort Hood, Texas in 2009, and in planning an attempted bombing of an airplane. Also reported dead in the strike was a second al-Qaeda terrorist, Samir Khan. Like Awlaki, Khan had lived in the US, spoke fluent English, and was heavily involved in attempts to recruit Americans to the terrorist cause and to push them to commit “lone wolf” attacks. The mission in which the two were killed was overseen by the CIA and America’s Joint Special Operations Command. (INN)  “Stealth Jihad” is the financial, cultural, and religious subversion of a country until it dominates the political and social life of that nation. Samir Khan is an example of terrorists who are perpetrators of this type of behind-the-scenes jihadism. The US is a target for furthering unarmed as well as violent Islamic extremism, and many Americans are unaware that it’s taking place all around them. Pray to be alert as to what is happening in your community, as well as your country, and to thwart covert ploys of religious fanatics.

OBAMA WANTED TO RELEASE POLLARD, BIDEN REFUSED: Vice President Joe Biden met last week with 15 rabbis in Florida, when he was asked by one of them why Pollard, who was convicted in 1986, was still in prison. In response to the question Biden said, “President Obama was considering clemency, but I told him, ‘Over my dead body are we going to let him out before his time.’” Jonathan Pollard was found guilty of spying on the US on behalf of Israel and sentenced to life in prison. Similar cases of spying for a friendly nation usually yield sentences of less than five years, but US authorities have refused to release Pollard. Many observers believe Pollard is being singled out for harsh and cruel treatment because he is a Jew who spied for Israel. Pollard’s health has been declining and in August he had to be temporarily taken out of his North Carolina prison to undergo an urgent surgical procedure needed because of severe lung problems. Some well-known individuals have publicly called for Pollard’s release. These include former Vice President Dan Quayle, US Middle East negotiator Dennis Ross, former CIA director James Woolsey, former Secretary of State George Shultz, and even Senator John McCain (who was once vehemently opposed to the idea). In August, Democratic Representative Barney Frank made a rare speech from the floor of the Congress on behalf of clemency for Pollard.  On Sunday Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin urged Biden to release Jonathan.  Despite all these calls, the US government has made no move to set Pollard free. He was not even allowed to attend his father’s funeral in June. (INN/Ha’aretz) “Mercy triumphs over judgment.” Jam. 2:13

ERDOGAN EXTENDS SPECIAL ROSH HASHANAH GREETINGS TO JEWS: Turkish PM Recep Erdogan extended a special greeting to the Jewish citizens of Turkey on Thursday, congratulating them on the holiday of Rosh Hashanah. “Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year and I wish our Jewish citizens a healthy and fruitful new year,” he said. Turkish-Israeli tensions have deepened recently due to events surrounding an Israeli raid on a 2010 Gaza-bound ship, which killed nine Turkish activists. (Ha’aretz) Continue to pray for the restoration of good relations between Israel and its former closest Middle East ally, Turkey
